The Alpiq Trading & Services division is one of Europe’s leading cross-border power traders. We operate on all the main European energy exchanges, trading platforms and gas hubs. We also play an important role in bilateral trading, doing business with over 250 OTC counterparties in the wholesale power markets.

Alpiq’s power trading is underpinned by a flexible and diverse production portfolio with a total capacity of approximately 6.5 GW. In our business model, trading combines the value-adding stages of generation and sales with the deregulated wholesale market.

Commodities and products

Our trading activities focus on  multi commodities such as gas, coal, oil products and fuels, as well as emissions allowances and green certificates. We offer a complete range of standardised products, including base, peak, off-peak, blocks and single hours. The Alpiq Trading & Services division also manages structured products, e.g. swings, virtual power plants (VPPs), hourly options and spread options.
